LAST CHANCE!
Rex Southwick’s second solo exhibition with the gallery has been a huge success. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and tomorrow (Friday 29th August) is your last to chance to come and see the show – the gallery shuts at 5pm. We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you soon!
Rex Southwick’s work is concerned with notions of affluence within the domestic setting. Purple Lands explores the process by which we have arrived at a near universal concept of the western domestic ideal. Modernist buildings are depicted under construction, labourers populate the space in the shade of date plants, self-referencing the act of creation and the potential disconnect between creator and created.
Rex Southwick is a young British painter. After graduating from Leeds Arts University with a degree in fine art, in which he won the Aeon Community Art Award, Southwick moved to London and began showing his work in group shows at the Old Truman Brewery. In the summer of 2019 Southwick put on Querencia, his debut solo show with Unit London. Purple Lands was Southwick’s second solo show at Unit London.
