Azu Nwagbogu x Barry Yusufu

Head over to Unit London’s Instagram account at 6pm GMT today to see Azu Nwagbogu (curator of The Medium is the Message) in conversation with Barry Yusufu, one of the most exciting young artists participating in the exhibition.

Born in Nasarawa state, Barry Yusufu is a self-taught visual artist from the north-central part of Nigeria. He is a traditional artist who uses dyes, charcoals, coffee, paints, papier mache, collage, and graphite to tell stories using model dramatisation, colors, and a great deal of imagination. His style of art is Contemporary Expressionism which he calls Kolo Art meaning madness in a sane way. As both men hail from Nigeria, this talk promises to shed some light on the turbulent social climate in the country at the moment. The interview will also be opened up for a Q&A later on, please submit your questions through the sticker on the Unit London story.
