Unit are delighted to announce Jason Boyd Kinsella’s artwork Jay has been acquired by the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Florida.
Jay was last exhibited in 2023, leading Kinsella’s solo exhibition with Unit, Anatomy of a Radiant Mind. The work is a monumental example of Kinsella’s psychological portraiture, a culmination of the artist’s attempts to represent the infinite complexities of the human condition in a rational and standardised way. The geometric blocks used throughout Kinsella’s oeuvre are here utilised in a much more expansive manner than in a normal portrait, eschewing traditional associations of portraiture and transforming into something greater, more abstract and more monstrous.
Unit are very proud to have facilitated the acquisition, aligned with PAMM under our missions to inspire audiences to understand the humanist interactions and exchange behind the creative arts.
The Jorge M. Pérez Art Museum of Miami-Dade County (PAMM) has been Miami’s flagship museum for almost 35 years. At its founding in 1984, the Museum was dedicated to international art of the 20th and 21st centuries, aiming to fill a void in a young city where no contemporary art museum existed. Now their programme seeks to educate audiences and ensure that all people can participate in a conversation that shares art at its centre.
Jason’s work is also held in multiple prominent collections that include the LVMH Foundation, Paris, France; the Nassima Landau Foundation, Tel Aviv, Israel; the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, USA; Long Museum, Shanghai, China and Centre of International Contemporary Art Vancouver (CICA), Vancouver, Canada, among others.
