Biography
Born in 1972, Duncan Jago’s career as Mr. Jago began as a formative artist in Bristol’s acclaimed graffiti scene. Growing up in the small village of Eye in Suffolk, Jago had an intense interest in graffiti, which led him to study illustration at the University of the West of England. During his studies Mr. Jago’s style was initially heavily illustrative but has since evolved into something far more abstracted and expressive.
Mr. Jago is known for having initiated the Scrawl movement, a school of street art that elected members based on their abilities with line, movement, and narrative composition. He was featured in the seminal, eponymous book Scrawl published in 1999. Jago’s work has been exhibited extensively worldwide and is held in both public and private collections. In 2021, Mr Jago had his fourth solo exhibition with Unit. Entitled, Imbolc, the show presented the artist’s most abstracted body of work to date.
