Looking back at 2020

As we (finally) approach the end of 2020, we invite you to join us in looking back at a challenging year that nobody could have predicted. Here at Unit London, we have remained committed to thinking outside the box and going against the status quo to be able to tell our artists’ stories to an ever-growing worldwide audience.

Our innate culture and ethos at Unit London has always recognised the importance of innovation and the relevance of the online space as a portal to connect people with art. This year, in the clutches of a global pandemic, this has become more apparent than ever before. Our programming this year has been focused on making our artists, exhibitions and events as accessible as possible to our amazing community, which is now truly global. Despite the many obstacles, our amazing team was able to organise more than 20 major exhibitions, across our Mayfair gallery, third-party spaces, and online. Exemplary of this forthright commitment to progress, our December group exhibition IRL saw the gallery adapt to the strange times, staging what may be a world-first; an exhibition which took place half-physically and half-online; with works being presented simultaneously physically in our gallery and virtually on our digital platforms.

Our monumental summer group exhibition Drawn Together was this year’s first fully digital exhibition at the gallery, featuring over 150 artists worldwide. Moreover, 2020 has seen the launch of our online, socially-conscious exhibition programme, Platform, a virtual viewing space that is accessible to a truly universal audience. These endeavours, with your help, have raised over £83,000 for international charities and non-profit organisations across the globe this year.

Looking forward, in 2021, we will remain boldly committed to pushing the boundaries of how art can be perceived and accessed - and we have an incredible programme of exhibitions and projects; details of which we are very excited to announce soon. We’ll see U on the other side...
