For the 10th anniversary of 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Unit London is delighted to present a group presentation showcasing work by Zimbabwean artist Option Nyahunzvi and South African artist Sthenjwa Luthuli. Each one equipped with his own visual language, these artists venture into the indeterminacy of collective and personal history.
This display brings together two voices that are representative of the current and future generations, each inventively portraying their communities as they see and participate in them. Borrowing from traditional aesthetics, Nyahunzvi and Luthuli simultaneously reimagine and celebrate their diasporas, familial histories and self-identities, defining the subject of Black representation on their own terms.
The 1-54 art fair is held at Somerset House and runs from 13 – 16 October 2022. Unit London will hold their presentation at Booth S20, located in the South Wing.
