Unit London is excited to announce its debut presentation at ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair, launching on the fair’s 10th year anniversary. Presenting a selection of brand new works by Ziping Wang, Nicolas Holiber, Jeremy Olson and Jake Wood-Evans, this focused display brings to the fore qualities of materiality and light, texture and tonal contrast.
For her latest work, Speak in the language of dust (2022), Ziping Wang employs dynamic colours and everyday visuals paired with references from Old Master compositions. Characteristic of her practice, the work reflects the current reality of visual overload and accelerating commodification.
Nicolas Holiber‘s new series is a continuation of his exploration of physicality and form. Following his recent solo exhibition at the gallery, Shape-Shifter (2022), this new series of psychological portraits unfolds in richly pigmented swirls of abstracted facial features.
Jeremy Olson, whose second solo exhibition this time of monsters opened at the gallery in October of 2022, invites the viewer into a ruinous world that is inhabited by otherworldly creatures. Unequivocally human-like, these monsters engage in leisurely activities, unaware that their world is on the brink of a catastrophe.
Jake Wood-Evans presents a selection from his latest Saboteurs series, returning to figurative painting with an emphasis on traditional hunting scenes from 18th and 19th-century European art. These works are intrinsically linked to an exploration of history and the transfiguration of historical narratives.
The exhibition will be available to view from 11 to 13 November 2022, at Booth W26.
