This series, born from a single generative algorithm, presents four unique expressions and one artist’s proof that dance between order and chaos. Inspired by the compositions of Richard Diebenkorn’s Ocean Park series and Euan Uglow’s colour theory, Hobbs constructed captivating compositions built upon a foundation of grid structures.
“Careless and Well-Intentioned” takes a different path than its predecessor, “Incomplete Control,” which embraced a softer, layered aesthetic. Here, the focus shifts to meticulously crafted regions of colour. Some areas sing in harmonious unison, while others introduce unexpected discord, creating a captivating tension.
From a pool of a thousand possibilities, five distinct iterations were hand-selected, each showcasing a unique personality within the broader theme. Some lean towards a dense and rhythmic arrangement, while others exude a sense of sparse elegance.
