Lines and Bones: Study of Distance

With Lines and Bones, Iskra Velitchkova presents a set of studies and explorations of what we can learn from machines. The artist truly believes that the lack of control we face in generative art leads us, subtly but authentically, to new perspectives about the world around us, and by extension, about ourselves. Starting with Lines and Bones: Study of Distance, she reflects on how machines potentially define distances and relationships inside the spaces we define with the algorithms we create. This lack of control outlines unexpected imaginaries and we have to learn how to deal with them. Based on a very few lines of code, this work aims to establish a dialogue between code and a hypothetical voice in nature: who defines who?
